My Poems-4

THE STORY OF
SIDHARTHA RETOLD

Then sidhartha
Entered the apartment of yashodhara
Eyed the sleeping wife and son
And mounted on kantaka
Leaving no lotus behind.

On each gallop he heard
The sulphurous sigh of a mother.
On and on he heard sal tree
Crying like an infant
But sidhartha resisted temptation.

Then sidhartha
Passed through magadha to reach uruvela,
Where beneath a pipal tree
He fought against mara
To win the realm of enlightenment.

neither temptation nor enlightenment
Provoked Devadatta-his cousin;
But the pangs of a destitute mother-
The ceaseless cry of a fatherless baby
So he was consumed by flames.

But the spirit dies never
And the spirit of Devadatta lives for ever-
It took the form of a mushroom
To become the last supper
Served to the octogenarian.

Here no parallels are allowed
By the judiciary of deathless spirits
So Christ was crucified
Socrates poisoned
So also Budha died.

My Poems-3

AFTER  ALL  IT  WAS  A  SUICIDE

After all it was a suicide
Of unprecedented type.
Here the hero is a coward
Of predicted type-
A prejudiced rebel.

He was frustrated- dejected
For he said, “you will cry and weep,
But the world will be glad”
After all it was a suicide
For he said, “Put your sword back in its place.”

He was silent before Pilate
And Pilate washed his hands in silence.
Then the crowd shouted like a roaring sea;
“Kill him; set Barabas free for us.”
It was a suicide for he did feign impotent.

He who converted water, wine
He who fed five thousand, said;
“I am thirsty” , Thirst?
After all it was a suicide
Of a thirsty man without thirst.

They divided his clothes
They gambled for his robes
Then he was wrapped and buried-
it was a suicide for he left the tomb
Leaving the shroud-the wretched remnant of the world.

After all it was a suicide
Of a coward! A prejudiced rebel!
For he did appeared first
Before Marry Magdalene
Even after resurrection.

My Poems-2

IF MARCUS ANTONIUS COME AGAIN

Friends, Indians, countrymen, lend me your ears
I come to bury her, not to praise her
The evil that men do live after them
The good is oft interred with their bones
So let it be her.

The noble Beant singh hath told you
She was dictatorial! Ambitious! Undemocratic!
If it were so, it was a grievous fault;
and grievously hath she answered it.
and Beant singh is an honourable man.

I saw not, her refusing the crown ever
but crown was often thrust upon her.
she never wept with the poor
For she was in tears bankrupt
Did this prove her unsympathetic or undemocratic?

Now it is winter
snow falls and balls for nothing
news ends in news
Zero ends in zero
Endless ends in endless.

Oh! Patriots! be not excited!
Oh! friends! be quiet! be self-controlled!
look......here......this one! .......this!...
Are the mortal depths dug by beant singh
If you have tears, shed them now.

She would have consoled Mahatma in time
For he only received three
She but thirty nearly
A brute tribute of her beloved nation.Oh! friends!

Indians! countrymen! lend me your ears
I come to bury her, not to praise her.
Oh! God! My lord! What do I see?
Sword!....Pistol!....Stun gun!......Riffle!......
Please friends! .....Patriots!.....Don’t kill me
Oh!...horrible.....what cracks!.......penetrates........

My Poems-1

C.T.William

CHANGE

Now ,
Everything has changed.
So Adam and Eve,
Heaven and Hell,
God and Devil,
Tree of knowledge,
Tree of life,
And fruits of temptations.
Now,
Hell to them the first couple is Heaven.
Devil to them the worst of all
Is God.
The whole Eden of senses,
To them now an oasis!
The tree of knowledge
The tree of life
And fruits of temptations
stood motionless ghostlike
To colour the firey Eden.
Now, Nothing is forbidden
Nothing!
Even a twig
A dried up hug
A dead leaf
A frozen bed
All worn out skeleton-like
For cells kills own tissues.
Here no fruits ripened
For all plucked prematurely.
Now,
No serpent appeared
Them to insinuate
For now they breed serpent within
To poison the self and the posterity.
All they devoured
All to them are edible.
Tree of knowledge!
Tree of life!
And the fruits of temptations!
Now,
There is no God
To make them feel nude
For now they in nude indulged.
Now,
There is no Voice nor Commandment
To drive them afar,
For now they are wandering afar
With untitled dragonic viruses.

P.C. THE LIVING LEGEND

Prof. P.C.Thomas, the God of Entrance Examinations in Thrissur, Kerala shares the secrets of his strategic "Thanthai Therapy" (Father Therapy) and the eventful victorious journey of excellence with ethrissur.com.

Interview by Mr.C.T. William

William  What is the secret behind your legendary victorious journey of excellence in the entrance examinations?

P.C. It's very simple. Hard work of the student and the spirit of dedication and service of this institution.

William  Some parents often complains that you are imposing hard work on students and it affect them adversely. do you agree to this statement?

P.C.
Certainly not. It's a universal truth that hard work pays and rewards always. You know, entrance examination is a task or a mission. For the success of such a task or mission, right targeting of aim and hard work are essential factors. I motivate them to undertake the task or mission and it always ended up in success. Then how can it be an imposition.

William  How do you motivate them? Is there any specific strategy?

P.C. You know, simply feeding information to students is not teaching. Before starting feeding of any information, one has to do some preparatory works to make them receivers of information. I call this process as formation and transformation process.

William  How far is this possible?

P.C.
I have successfully proved it possible. For the last so many years I am reaping the fruitful results of these possibilities. But I can not materially present or record any modus operandi. Because the process is spiritual. My ultimate aim is to awaken the students spiritually and to make them realize their aim and also to make them bold enough to achieve the target.

William  Amidst the time constraints and voluminous crowd of students, how can you manage this kind of spiritual operation?

P.C.
I am managing this with the help of networked Public Address System. I used to give them spiritual talks daily and the formation-transformation process is thus done.

William  Is there any creative role for the parents?

P.C.
Definitely yes. My own "Thanthai Therapy" (Father Therapy) starts here. Please do not misunderstand the terminology. I am applying the word "Thanthai" with a little bit of divine reverence. I believe that parents especially father has a remarkable role in educating and training the children. I insist all fathers to sit together with their children during their study time. There is no meaning in leaving the children to their own world of studies and keeping away from the parental responsibilities. There is also no meaning in scolding the children when their performance level is coming down due to the lack of parental responsibilities. There should be a mutual sharing of pains and sacrifices in between the parents and the children. I mean a spiritual togetherness.

William  I heard that you are against co-education system i.e.: mixing up of girls and boys. Is this a right approach?

P.C. According to me, it is the right approach. My experience taught me that co-education has some negative impact. I blame the TV channels and internet in this context for such media are instrumental for the unscientific sexual explosion and exploitation.

William  Can you explain a little more?

P.C.
Yes. What I mean is this. Nowadays parents are more concern about the food they are giving to the children. Our modern food system is mainly supported and supplemented by the high-calorie tinned food. This will definitely generate and stimulate sexual urge in children and accordingly their concentration in studies will be adversely affected.

William  So do you have any recommendation on the diet system of the students?

P.C.
yes. Don't give too much attention to the food. Always avoid high-calorie food. Feed the mind and enable the mind a peaceful and powerful environment of concentration.

William  What is your message to the students who came out of flying colours and those waiting for the coming entrance examination?

P.C.
I simply remind them the truth that only hard work and peace of mind will pay and reward. I congratulate my students who followed this truth.

The statements of a Realistic Vice Chancellor

Dr.K.V.Peter, the Realistic Vice Chancellor of Kerala Agricultural University is trying to place himself comfortably somewhere between a teacher, scientist, economist, farmer and a Vice Chancellor. The soft spoken visionary of Kerala Agricultural University speaks to ethrissur.com

Interview by Mr. C.T. William

W.J. "There is a criticism that Kerala Agricultural University has terribly failed in contributing any constructive output to the farmers of the state for the last 25 years of its existence" How do you react to this?

V.C. This is due to the high expectation of the people behind this criticism. it is so unfortunate that people of India especially we Keralaites are expecting every provisions from the government or the related organizations. As far as kerala Agricultural University is concerned we are not providers but creators or generators of developments in the areas we are expected to work. I hope that a general public disillusion of realities and level of performances are needed here.

W.J.Can you explain some of its contributions to state's farming community?

V.C.You know Kerala Agricultural University is one of the best of its kind.We have got excellent teachers, scientists and research scholars. Kerala Agricultural University is imparting its qualitative as well as meritorious contributions to the areas of education, extension, research and farm management. We have contributed the best planting materials and effective methodologies to the farming community. We have developed the first hybrid coconut from our Coconut Research Station at Pilicode. We have developed the best hybrid Panniyur Pepper from our Pepper Research Station at Panniyur and enhanced the quality of the internationally demanded "Black Gold". We have introduced the best management methods to control the weed menace in the back waters of Kuttanad. It was our scientists who formulated the effective bio agent,Weevil to control the Salvinia (Affrican Payal) that blocked the entire back waters of Kerala. We have created the best species of rice from our Rice Research Station at Pattambi. Our simple but great device "Coconut Dehusker" has become a revolution in the households of Kerala. Now even a child can dehusk a coconut easily.

W.J.But these contributions are confined to the four walls of the research laboratories. Is there any vital steps taken by Kerala Agricultural University to promote these outputs to the grass root level of the farmers?

V.C.Again I am reminding you the fact that Kerala Agricultural University is not a provider of any facilities. We are the creators or generators of ideas or what we call research outputs/findings. We are not marketing people. Marketing of our ideas and findings have to be operated by the Agricultural Department of the government. The present confusion with Kerala Agricultural University is that sometimes it is treated as governmental and in some other times it is treated as autonomous. In brief the identity of Kerala Agricultural University is yet to be clarified.

W.J.What is your opinion about the role of state government in promoting the research outputs of Kerala Agricultural University?

V.C.State government is doing its level best. But the social commitment of the people is more important. government is nothing but a catalyst. One thing you remember always that we can not replace hard work. We have to make our own conducive environment for a better transformation. Nobody will plough the land for you and nobody will bring you mellowed tomato or potato into your farm.

W.J.But in the recent coconut mite holocaust, the government however performed its level best,  no coconut palm has survived the holocaust. Why? Who is responsible for this?

V.C.Regarding the coconut mite holocaust, I would like to say that it is the wrong delivery of the mite control measures that aggravated the problem. You may please understand the fact that Kerala Agricultural University can not provide you with climbers, sprayers and other infra structures for this venture. We can only orient people within our limitations.

W.J.The government have mobilized and provided the farmers with climbers, sprayers and all other required infrastructures. Even then the venture has failed. Why?

V.C.This is because of our lack of sincere interest or what I call a social commitment with the issue. In the case of coconut mite, what happened is this; farmers comfortably left the issue with the government or Kerala Agricultural University. Actually there lacked the  mobilization of real farmer interest.

W.J.But in a country where the prices of farm produces are precariously slashing; Can you recommend the mobilization of farmer interest to these areas?

V.C.It is a matter of economics and competence of market. Now the market is vibrant. There are qualitative choices before the people. In such a situation, it is no wonder that the fittest and competent will survive. There has been a tremendous increase in the purchasing power of the consumer.

W.J.I think it is a matter of Globalization. There are offenders and defenders of Globalization. But what actually is the effect of Globalization upon agriculture? Adverse or favourable?

V.C.Again it is a matter of pure economics. Now people have the power of purchasing. No wonder they are after selections, varieties and qualities. The truth here is to find out the line that separate the producer and consumer. There should be an acceptable and viable correlation in between the producer and consumer.

W.J.We have discontinued many of our subsidies to the farmers as a part of our new economic policy. Do you encourage or discourage this policy?

V.C.No comment. This is a sensitive question to answer.

W.J.There prevails a controversy in filling up of the kole land (Paddy fields) and in the right of its utilization. Do you agree to the statement that the farmers have the right to utilize their land for any productive purposes they prefer to?

V.C.I don't find any controversy in it. If there is no profit in a business, naturally people will keep away from it. The main problem with the paddy cultivation is the acute shortage of a committed farm labour force. Paddy cultivation will never survive unless and until we get sufficient committed farm labour force.

W.J.But a documentary film produced by one of your scientists has claimed that paddy cultivation is highly profitable. How this happen?

V.C.I don't think so. If paddy cultivation is  profitable more people would have entered the paddy fields.

W.J.What is the role of Kerala Agricultural University in the promotion as well as implementation of the state agriculture policies?

V.C.We are no policy formulators. We educate, research and conduct extension activities. What we need is good model farms. We are developing such model farms for the farmers.

W.J.Politics have become the final force in our society. How far this is applicable to the areas of academics and education?

V.C.Politics is a science. In  its wider dimension it develops people and nation. When it become narrower, it decelerate the total development of people and nation. Because of  its wrong direction and interpretation, simple issues are often made complex and unsolvable.

W.J.Media comments that  Kerala Agricultural University is undergoing a very critical financial crisis. What actually is the main reason for this?

V.C.Financial crisis is a national reality. The government itself is under the grip of financial crisis. Kerala Agricultural University is a part of the government. So evidently there should be the crisis. I don't believe that the crisis is exclusively for Kerala Agricultural University.

W.J.Do you agree to the criticism that the UGC pay scale implementation and the voluminous ICAR funds blockade are the main reasons for this crisis?

V.C.We can not relate the financial crisis of Kerala Agricultural University with the UGC pay scale implementation of its teachers. As far as the teachers of Kerala Agricultural University is concerned, UGC pay scale and its benefits are their right. It is neither a luxury nor anybody's mercy . You may also note the fact that Kerala Agricultural University is the last institution that implemented UGC benefits when compared to others.

W.J.Kerala; the God's own country is known for its agrarian frame work. What will be the future of this frame work? Stable or shaky?

V.C.I hope that Kerala will go brighter. But we should give more importance to the rural Kerala. That is the real heart of agrarian Kerala.

W.J.In order to integrate an Agricultural Kerala, what specific policies are to be implemented?

V.C.There is no meaning in drafting policies. What we need is group dynamism. We people are all individually excellent. But we are very bad in groups. This disrupts our integration.

W.J.Being a renowned scientist and visionary, definitely you will have some vision about a healthy Agricultural State. Can you explain your vision?

V.C.I have a dream of hope. A dream of Ramarajya where Mahabali is permanently enthroned without the threats of Vamanas.

W.J.Thank you sir. Let your dream come true.
